let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!! =) December 1, 2008

happy snow day!! =)
so, this past thanksgiving weekend i was in the moutains. i thought FOR SURE we would see some snow..i mean it was only right that it snow in gatlinburg while we were there. but guess what; it didn’t =(
so, i came home last night, kind of sad that it hadn’t snowed while i was there. then i woke up this morning and my yard and roof and car and eveything in sight was covered in snow!!!!! it was beautiful!!!

so, of course school was delayed till 10:00 this morning. county schools were cancelled all together, which my little sister LOVED btw…so this was the perfect end to a great thanksgiving break! =)
got lots of my presents out of the way, got to spend last night with a wonderful person , spent time with my family, and to beat it all it snowed!! now, if i can just get mother nature to give me a little snow on my birthday that would be fantastic….

i never did get a chance to go watch the play this time, but i heard it was hilarious! i can only imagine that it would be considering it was all about behind the scenes things. i usually get a chance to go see them but with everything going on lately i haven’t been able to!!!
finals are in a couple of weeks…i really only have like one to take on campus. My english final was the test on my book. Which, was incredibly easy considering i LOVED the book i chose! My accounting II final is just the computer program, and my other 2 are online. So, bio is really the only one i have to take on campus. Which is a load off me!! 2 done and 3 to go =)

today is the start of a VERY BUSY WEEK!!  This week is national collection week, www.samaritanspurse.org which means it is getting closer and closer to getting all those boxes handed out! Our church had our dedication last sunday night and it was beautiful. Of course I fell apart!! seeing all those boxes was a magnificent sight…
along with it being national collection week, it is also the second week of the play this week. Thursday night is my night, and I’ll be heading over to the lyceum right after finishing a dinner for the foundation board. Those are my favorite ones to work b/c my boss is on the foundation board and he’s fun to pick on =) haha…
i haven’t seen the play yet, but i have heard from quiet a few ppl that it is really good! so i am looking forward to watching it!!

and this is totally off subject of school, but b laughed out loud last nite at dairy queen! it was so cute! me and luke got so cracked up at him b/c he was just laying there all content and laughing so hard!! haha..it was adorable and hilarious…

winter… October 3, 2008

well, in case you haven’t noticed, winter is getting closer!! If most of you are like myself, you are welcoming the new season with a bang by catching cold!!! And let me tell you, it isn’t the most glorious thing in the world. So, if you were one of the lucky few that stayed well through this change, congratulations!!!

Yesterday was the college fair at school, and man o man at the students!! I think it gets larger and larger every year we have one. It seemed to be a great success though. I saw lots of high school seniors walking around, talking to the recruiters, getting information from their schools, signing up for mailing, all sorts of stuff! So, hopefully everyone will find the right college to go to.Or, in some cases, decide what they want to do with their life!!

Miss Northeast is next Saturday so if you like to watch pageants, come!! Its really cool to watch, but I myself am not really a pageant type girl. I love to dress up and wear high heels and makeup and dresses and all that good stuff!! I just don’t love when people judge me for it ya know!!
Anyhoo…if you like pageants, you would enjoy this one =)

Oh! And i got a letter from my friend Jess at Washington State yesterday! I think I told you about her??? Anyway, she is my bestie from Ecuador =) Thousands of miles away but still like best friends! I think we have decided to go on a cruise for Spring Break!! YAY!! Lots of fun =)

so, i really NEVER thought this week would end! ugh..its been so incredibly long! so much to do and so little time!!

its been a while since i have written (so sorry); but like i said, so much to do! anyhoo…the fair is in town this week and NACC has a booth at the entrance gate so you should come visit i will be working friday and saturday nite…yea, don’t know what i was thinking when i signed up!!! but, gotta get those hours

so, i applied for an internship yesterday with samaritan’s purse. if you don’t remember, they are the ones i went to ecuador with this summer to pass out the boxes. so, if i get the internship…i will get paid to do that all year long!! how amazing is that!!
and i urge you ALL to pack a shoebox this year! it really will give you a feeling of accomplishment and like you have done something wonderful for someone…you will probably never meet the child you pack the box for, but in the back of your mind you will know that you changed the life of a child

it’s here…another grueling week in the life of a teenager. however, there is one thing that is exciting about tonight…ONE TREE HILL!! if you can’t tell, i love it..

meeting today at the college. this will be our second meeting with the new hosts. i was counting up my hours earlier this morning, and by the time october gets here i will have 30 hours!! that means vaca’s for me during our breaks =)
miranda and i was talkin the other day at our luncheon, and it JUST hit me that this will be my last semester as a presidential host i really do love doing this. hopefully, i can get our hosts involved with Operation Christmas Child this year. i’m hoping they will go along with the idea of maybe giving 1 service hour per box (with a limit of maybe 2?) to each host. i’m also going to talk to whitney about getting the BCM involved with it. it think this would be a GREAT Way to get nacc involved with international projects!!!

i feel like it has been so long since i have written!! gosh, so much to fill you in on!!
ok, for starters, ecuador was FANTASTIC..i loved each and every second of it. More on that later tho..

What I really wanted to write about today are the Hurricane Victims. As many of you know by now, NACC has been a Red Cross relief location for many victims of the hurricane from parts of New Orleans and Mississippi. We received over 260 victims and they have been bunking at the gym on campus…let me just say, we were lucky to get the group we got!! We heard of schools getting gang members, convicts, fighters, all kinds of people. We however, were lucky enough to get a group who have appreciated everything we have done for them.
Many students, faculty, and volunteers including myself helped yesterday as much as we could to help them feel comfortable. We have a lot of kids and even a 9 week old baby!! We had alot of things donated for the families to use and keep, and one of the things donated were blow up things for kids to play on. One of the students was playing with one of the little boys on the blow up, and when the kid was jumping, he looked at Justin and said “This is the best hurricane EVER!” haha…he was SO CUTE!!
Biggest thing I want to get across, is that these people need our help and our prayers. We have been lucky for so many people to volunteer and help out so much. There is no way this could have gone so smoothly if everyone wouldn’t have pitched in and helped!!
When these families leave the Northeast campus, they will be returning home; or whatever is left of it. Many left with nothing but the clothes on their backs and will be returning with probably just that, and to nothing. Please keep these families in your prayers. They need it….

ok. so to say the least, as of monday i am being TORTURED at work about my trip!! it started when shaila came in my office and starting making airplane noises then like it was crashing…THEN…she buzzed me up front and was like laura have you looked on the internet today? and i was like uh yea..why?? and she said there was a really bad earthquake in ecuador and there weren’t any survivors!!! and i mean, this is all like serious talk..no laughing involved.
then yesterday, it continued with rumors of new tribes being found and killing off all the americans and so many other things…then this morning, i walked back in davids office (my boss) and i was giving him his files. he smiles and sayd thank you then after i walk out he was like hey debra (the lady that works beside him) what was on the news this morning about that civil war that broke out in ecuador and they’re killin all the missionaries??? and she was like o yea..it started after the earthquake…which is just TERRIBLE!!! and its only 11 am!!
I have a feeling tomorrow is going to be just awful.
on an up scale note, i’m working a fiddler’s convention saturday morning at fort payne middle school, so if you don’t have anything else to do, come on down

ok. so i am SOOO burnt out!!! i was up till midnight last night working on my history paper. FIANLLY got that turned in, but i gotta have my power point done by Friday. Then I also have to have at least one page of my English research paper done by Wednesday. PLUS my chaper 7 test taken in statistics by wednesday night. this is all on top of my 8-5 job  i don’t think i have ever been this stressed and tired in my life!!!
Good news?? yes. as of tomorrow it will be one week until my departure from this boring old place I’d be ready to leave tomorrow if i could!! well all except that i’m not packed lol. other than that, i’m so ready!!!
One of the girls i work with informed me that she has been praying that my plane won’t go down when it goes over the ocean. lol. i was like o thank you so much for your consideration. lol

i worked tha ballet at the school yesterday. it wasn’t that bad actually. i watched the first half of it but had to leave because i had praise team practice..then justin informed me that the second half was the best half!! ah i was so mad….

anywho…i guess thats all for now…write later….

so, while dusty and i were endlessly working on bbusiness statistics last night, we suddenly realized that school is almost OUT for the summer semester! but o my..we worked from about 8 to 11. then i went home and finished my history paper. so as for me, i will be EXTREMELY happy when classes are over. and how sad is it that i was registered for next semster like 2 weeks ago….
but..i sure am glad i did considering almost all the classes i am in are closed now!!! i was pretty surprised. i signed in and saw all the ones that had closed within a matter of days and i was like o wow…
anywho…the ballet is sunday so i’ll be busy sunday with that after church. then i’m going to dusty’s yet again to work on stats..i tell you…that is definately a class i DO NOT love. and the sad part is that i have to take the second part this fall

wrapping it up.. July 21, 2008

so its getting there..end of school, time for my trip, end of hosting for the semester…its all coming to an end once again. the sad bitter end. Except, its not sad, or bitter to me. This means I have exactly 2 semesters left at nacc and then i can graduate
Brody is doing wonderful. He’s still a tiny little ole thing..but then again I knew he would be..i mean look at anna and derek. they are both ittle bity so i knew he would be too.
work is still great. I’m still here full time and i am FINALLY feeling better! Although, i have a feeling that isn’t going to last very long. I have an english paper due, a history paper, like 20 more history tests, business stats tests, and i have to read hamlet to beat it all. yuck i know…but..like i said before, its almost all over.
I’m looking forward to me 2 week break from school. lol. Although I don’t know if i would consider it a “break.” I’ll be in a foreign country working my tail off so it may feel just like I’m in school. lol. o well.
So, guess this is all for now.
